Creating a Let's Encrypt certificate
Note: If your domain uses both A and AAAA records, you need to remove the AAAA record before attempting to provision the certificate. The Lumen platform uses IPv4, so AAAA records (which are IPv6) will be not pointing at Lumen platform leading to provision failure.
To create a Let's Encrypt certificate:
- Sign in to your Application Delivery Solutions dashboard and, under Set up, navigate to the HTTPS page.
The SSL information for the first domain in this application loads automatically.
- If you have set up multiple domains on a single application, select the domain you want to upload a certificate for (from the Select your domain list).
- Click Renew certificate.
- Do one of the following:
- If you previously used a custom certificate, click Switch to Let’s Encrypt.
Let’s Encrypt runs validation test over the domain and then provisions a new certificate.
- If you have only recently performed Go‑Live (pointed DNS at Lumen), the validation process might require multiple attempts as DNS propagation can take some time. So if your free certificate doesn’t provision immediately, click Renew certificate again in a few minutes. (If it still doesn’t provision after three or fout tries, contact our support team.
- If you previously used a custom certificate, click Switch to Let’s Encrypt.
Once the certificate has been provisioned, it will automatically renew every 3 months.
